Peebles Audio Engineering - Nakamichi Services

Ah, the soothing sound of a 3kHz sine wave 🤪

I don’t buy too many cassette tapes (Lebowskiwave being one notable exception) as we mostly make our own mix tapes for various players we have scattered around the house or lug around when cycling downtown.

I ordered these tapes specifically to get my Nakamichi CR-3A deck tuned up to spec. The deck sounds pretty good as-is but deserves a full service and calibration. I already have a 3khz tape from fixyouraudio.com that I used for my JVC KD-V6 and Sony CFS-300 but these tapes can also be used for track alignment and azimuth adjustment. Both are easily calibrated on a CR-3A (and I believe all Nakamichi decks.)

The cost of these tapes actually make them one of the most expensive piece of physical media I own, which is kind of crazy in hindsight, but I have a feeling this may not be my last Nakamichi and these tapes will work on other models as well. Hopefully, they’re the last I’ll have to buy.

Now, to just find the time to actually do the full calibration…
